Humans and Nature co-exist and I believe that one cannot live without the other. In Corporate Social Responsibility, actions must benefit not only humans but the nature or our environment as well. Since we are currently experiencing immense global warming, which is evident in our every day lives especially through the weather, company's CSR programs often coincide with Environmental Sustainability. We are concerned since this affects human health and welfare, and the animals and plants as well. There is a global crisis on environmental sustainability since air pollution and intense heat are prevailing in our current generation. We are struggling to keep up with climate change which puts every single living creature in grave threat.
In lieu with community responsibility, corporations can also focus on environmental responsibility as well. There are projects where in we can give jobs to those unfortunate and at the same time benefit the environment through these jobs. We can also propose projects on saving Mother Earth like tree-building and environmental cleaning.
I, myself, was an Environmental Care Committee Representative when I was in High School, being the Batch Representative for this Committee, I was in charge of ensuring cleanliness and orderliness in our school. I was in charge of handling my batch mates when it comes to maintaining a clean environment, proposing projects on proper regulation of wastes and regular scheduled general cleaning. I am proud to say that my school, as an organization, takes further steps to include environmental care in the values to instil in the students. Although not explicitly promoted, it is an internal function of our school to be of help to our environment. They let us compute our carbon footprint in our Science and Sustainability subject in order to know what measures we should take to be of help in preserving Mother Earth. I, recently also watched a video on DLSU's participation on this year's Earth Hour and I am happy to be in a school which supports these kinds of advocates.
