Service Learning - 1st Visit
In my Journal Entry #2, I have mentioned that the Association we are to help is Asosacion De Damas De Filipinas in Quirino Avenue, unfortunately time cannot permit us to do our service there because the students of TREDTWO are assigned in that area. We tried to book ourselves to fit in their schedule but unfortunately all their Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are fully booked and they cannot accommodate us. Due to this, we had to look for another community to help where in there are children since our proposal involves an Educational Trip to Manila Zoo and a lecture on animal life and environmental care.
We first visited Barangay 709 on February 24, 2016. This is our alternative after the long process of vying for Damas. We met with their Kagawad and we had a conversation about the possible projects we can implement in their Barangay which is located near Agno. They asked us to go to COSCA and seek help for their approval and for for direct endorsement from the school itself. In the meantime, we were given the chance to conduct and ocular of the Barangay and we brainstormed on the possible activities we can propose. We wanted to stick with our Lecture and Educational Trip but unfortunately, it was too risky to push through with the latter. So, as a group, we decided to have a 2 day lecture on Animal Lifestyle and Environmental Awareness.
We are in the process of getting approval from COSCA, so we can start with our activity as soon as possible.
